Chase was born in Czechoslovakia three years ago. Originally trained in Germany to be a Police dog, he was brought to this country by the Easton Police Department. Officer Tamra French was assigned to be the K9 handler for Chase, and they attended an 8 week school as part of NAPWDA (North American Police Work Dog Association). Chase and Officer French trained together to learn Tracking, Building search, Area search, Narcotic detection, Handler Protection and Obedience.

While on Patrol in the town of Easton, Chase rides with Officer French in a specially designed Police vehicle. The car has a special platform in the back seat so that Chase can ride safely and comfortably. The vehicle has a

special cage system both between the front and rear areas and on the back windows preventing citizens from getting too close to Chase without Officer French. The car is equipped with a temperature control system that will send an electronic "page" to Officer French if the vehicle air conditioner malfunctions causing the temperature in the vehicle to rise. The vehicle will also
automatically roll the windows down for Chase's comfort. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a "back-up" system. In the event of an emergency, Officer French has a button on her belt that will automatically open the Police car door to allow Chase to exit and assist her. The Easton Police

Department has taken every precaution to make sure that Chase, Officer French and the public are safe at all times.

Officer French and Chase are partners and work together around the clock. Officer French takes care of Chase on and off duty. Chase gets fed and groomed regularly and is always exercised to keep him in top physical condition. Chase has tracked burglary suspects for the Fairfield Police Department. He tracked a suspect involved in a domestic dispute for the Ridgefield Police Department and drug searches in the towns of Ansonia and Bristol, CT. Chase has also assisted the Redding Police Department, the DEA and US Customs.

Chase is fast becoming one of the most popular work dogs in the state.
